Window Collages

This was a fun afternoon activity for my two boys.

Window Collages:

To make, I cut out squares of clear contact paper. Then, I drew a shape for them to fill in. Then I let them have at it with a bunch of flower and star shapes I had cut out for scrapbooking, sticking them on the contact paper. You could easily use regular hole punch circles in different colors, too. Then stick them to the window.

Different Kind of Creating

It has been a while since I have posted here. I haven't totally disappeared off the face of the earth, just been preoccupied. Most of the month of March and April I didn't do too much crafting because I was feeling sick from the other creating my body was doing.

I had to borrow this picture from This Little Project. I thought it was pretty clever.

We found out we are having another boy, due mid October. My boys are super excited to get another brother!

May and June we had a couple big vacations, so I didn't get back into the blogging habit. Now that we have a free summer, I hope to catch up posting the few things I have made the last couple months, and hopefully I can post a little more regularly some fun crafts and things that we do this summer. I made a list of activities and crafts to do with my boys this summer, so I will share some of those. If you want some ideas of the fun activities we have planned, you can check my Kid's Activities Pinterest board here.

Here's a quick craft we did for the Fourth of July. I got the idea here, although I think it was linked to from one of my pins.

Hope you had a happy Independence Day!

Fall/ Thanksgiving Decorations with Kids

We went for a walk the other day, and my boys started gathering leaves that they liked. By the time we got home, we had a huge handful of leaves. My 4 year old thought we should makes something with them.

First we made some turkeys. Nice and festive for the upcoming holiday!

I helped tape the leaves down. My 4 year old drew the face of the turkey on this one:

I drew the face on this one, and my almost two year old kind of helped color it :)

The rest of the leaves we bunched up and made a pretty centerpiece for our table.

We have been enjoying a beautiful fall and are looking forward to Thanksgiving!

Easy, Fun Halloween Decorations with Kids

A super easy Halloween decoration we made last week. I got a bunch of foam stickers on discount after Halloween the last couple years, so I just let my kids have at it with the stickers.

My 21 month old made a haphazard picture:

My four year old's is a bit more straight, and he even wanted to spell some real words.

I made this one :)

I got the idea to make these pumpkins here. My four year old painted some paper plates orange and he drew on the faces. Once they were dry, I glued on a stem and cut out the faces.

For preschool last week, my son's class went on a nature walk and collected leaves and pine needles. I guess they used some for a project there, which he hasn't brought home yet, but the extras he brought home in a bag. Instead of just leaving them in the bag (or throwing them out) I thought we could enjoy them during this fall season. I just taped them up under the top of our entertainment center, so they hang in a row above our TV:

Gone Fishin'

I am the chorister for the primary children at church. I made these fish for a singing time game. We are learning the song, "Come, Follow Me" and talked about how Jesus told his disciples to be "fishers of men." Each number on the fish corresponded to a different way to sing (loud, soft, while facing backwards...). They really enjoyed this activity, I might bring it back again next week!

I also knew that my boys would enjoy playing with these fish. My 18 month old is starting to learn his colors and imitates us when we count things, so there are lots of teaching opportunities for him.

My 4 year old loves to pretend play with the fish and of course use the magnet to catch the fish. They both have had fun with them already!

I made the fish out of two layers of felt sewn together. I sewed a paper clip into the mouth (I saw the idea for that from Shannon Makes Stuff).
