PJ Mask Birthday Party

My preschooler turned 5! He has really gotten into PJ Masks lately and wanted a PJ Mask party.

He had already decided to be Catboy for Halloween, so I made him his costume early (more about that later).

He wanted a PJ Mask cake with all the symbols of the characters on it.

The kids made bracelets with their favorite character: catboy, owlette, or gecko.

We made a cardboard box HQ so they could use their super gecko strength to lift it.

HQ had been taken by Romeo and they had to carry it back across the city.

I didn't get pictures of the other activities, but they also used their super catboy speed to run and diffuse some bombs planted by Luna Girl (they had to pop some balloons with candy inside). Then they flew like owlette to save the city from the night ninjas (they shot nerf guns at some blue balloons).

Summer Fun Activities

Here are a few activities my kids wanted to do this summer.

We finally jumped on the slime bandwagon. We used the recipe from Elmer's.

We made blue slime with glitter in it.

We made some oobleck.

We actually made this several times. The bowl of cornstarch would dry out and we would just re-hydrate it and play again. I love it when something is fun for all of my boys to play. Both the slime and the oobleck was enjoyed by all three of them.

We made some fireworks in a jar.

It was fun and cool to watch, although it didn't last as long as playing with the slime or oobleck.

Dining Room Chairs

Our dining room chairs have needed some TLC for a while now. I've been needing and wanting to recover them for a couple years, and finally got it done a couple months ago.

I covered them with home decor fabric I found at Joanns and vinyl so they are washable.

The vinyl made it a little hard to get nice corners and to get everything stapled together, but it has been so nice and easy to take care of!

Ninjago Birthday Party

My oldest son is very much into legos lately and had a Ninjago Birthday party for his seventh birthday. I searched through lots of wonderful ideas on Pinterest and found a few things that my son liked and wanted to do for his party.

Ninjago balloon decorations:

We also had a white balloon that my son drew on to look like one of the skeleton guys. We set it up on something and have them throw "shurikens of ice" (origami stars that I made for them) at it. One of the stars hit right on the tip and popped the balloon!

We made a paper mache pinata:

The cake was the green ninja:

Super simple decor on the walls. My son colored in a lego guy printout to look like the 4 main ninjas.

They played pin the staff on Sensei Wu:

I thought it would be fun to make some sort of ninja mask as a party favor for the boys that came to the party . In searching for ideas on the web, I came across this great idea to use a t-shirt tied around into a mask (from A Lemon Squeezy Home). So I got them all t-shirts from the dollar store and sent them home with the photo of the instructions found from Lemon Squeezy so they could all be ninjas.

I even dressed the baby up. :)

Alien Cake

My middle son wanted an alien space ship cake for his fourth birthday. I'm not sure how he got that idea, but I did my best to make it happen.

I just baked the cake into two round pans. Then I cut one in half and then kind of shaved off the sides to fit around the other circle.

I thought it turned out pretty cute.

Spider Web

I saw the idea to make a spider web decoration out of a trash bag from How About Orange last year. So when my boys were wanting more Halloween decorations, we tried it out. I thought they turned out pretty fun.

One for the doorway, and one for the front door.

For some added fun, we attached some little spider rings to them.

R2D2

When we went to Disneyland last year, my son got this R2D2 Mickey ears hat.

So for Halloween, he wanted to be R2D2. I had seen a couple ideas online (here, here, and here), and used freezer paper to make a stencil to paint on a white t-shirt.

He wanted a t-shirt rather than a costume made out of cardboard or something, so he could wear it to school, which he has quite a bit!

Valentines

We had a fun Valentines and were able be a bit crafty with some presents.

I saw this idea on pinterest, and thought it would be fun for my son's Kindergarten class Valentines. We just have the star muffin tins to make the crayons, and we just put them with regular Valentines (that I got on clearance last year!).

The best part was my son was so excited to do his Valentines, he didn't complain about all the writing practice he was getting. :) He even made this card for his teacher:

I made these for my husband and put it in a recycled heart box. The recipe can be found here from Kraft..

I saw these cute origami heart valentines via pinterest, and made a couple for each of my boys.

Catapult

I ran across this project on Pinterest the other week, and knew it would be something my boys would like. We made these little catapults to shoot pom poms.

Of course we had to make two, so we could have a battle.

With the puff balls as amo, no real harm can be done!
