Castle

I have to say that the idea for this one was mine. We had a lot of toilet paper rolls to use, so I thought a castle would be fun. We made a prince out of roll, too, but it somehow didn't get in the picture. My son had a lot of fun painting this.

Airplane

My son wanted to make an airplane out of toilet paper rolls. Sometimes he thinks we can make just about anything. Some things are harder than others! He insisted that two of the rolls be "wheels" on the bottom. It looks more like a pontoon plane. He had to color it his favorite color, pink.

Race Track

This was a favorite toilet paper roll creation--a race track, with two tunnels for cars to race down.

Peter and the Wolf

After we got a book with CD from the library of Peter and the Wolf, and also watched the cartoon on YouTube (you can see it here and here), my son informed me one day that we were going to make a wolf out of toilet paper rolls.

So this is what I came up with:

Pretty scary looking. :) He wanted a hole behind the nose, too, so he could look through.

Then we had to make the rest of the characters. We made Peter:

Grandpa:

"Sonia" the duck:

"Sasha" the bird:

"Ivan" the cat:

Train

One of the favorite crafts my son and I like to do is making things out of toilet paper rolls. I'm not sure what it started with, but now my son won't let us throw any toilet paper rolls away! He helps me come up with ideas of what to make with them.

A while back we made this train with tp rolls, with a little help from some other cardboard.

We had recently watched Dumbo, so he wanted to put animals in the train. We found some little stickers with animals, and a few other stickers made it on there as well.

Most of the fun is in the making of these, but my son usually likes to play with them for a while, too!
